Sign In with the Microsoft Account
You Already Have

How “Continue with Microsoft” works on your Rogue Productions account — and what it does and doesn’t share.

Introduction

Your Rogue Productions account at account.rogueproductions.net is where you manage your Rogue Productions products and plans. There are now two ways to join and sign in: a Rogue Productions account with its own email address and password, or Continue with Microsoft using the work, school, or personal Microsoft account you already have.

This guide explains what each option means, what we receive from Microsoft (very little), how your organization’s security rules fit in, and how to connect a Microsoft account to an account you already have.

Two Ways In, One Account

Both options give you the same account and the same products. The difference is how you prove it’s you.

Continue with Microsoft

  • No new password. You sign in on Microsoft’s own page with your existing work, school, or personal Microsoft account.
  • Your organization’s rules apply. With a work account, your organization’s sign-in requirements apply every time you sign in.
  • Organization access. If your organization uses Rogue Productions, signing in with your work account is the only way to get what it provides.

A Rogue Productions account

  • An email address and a password that belong only to us, protected by a mandatory Rogue Productions two-step code.
  • Only yours. No organization has a say in it, and leaving a job doesn’t affect it.

Which should you choose?

  • Your organization uses Rogue Productions? Use your work Microsoft account.
  • Using it for yourself? A personal Microsoft account (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Xbox) or a Rogue Productions account both work well.
  • Want a backup? Use both. One account can have a password and up to five connected Microsoft accounts.
You don’t have to decide forever. You can connect a Microsoft account to a Rogue Productions account, or add a password to a Microsoft one, at any time. Compare the two options in the help center.

What We Receive — and What We Don’t

Signing in is not the same as giving us access to your Microsoft 365 data.

When you choose Continue with Microsoft, we send you to Microsoft’s own sign-in page. Microsoft checks who you are and sends back a signed statement that only we can use, saying which account signed in. You never type your Microsoft password on a Rogue Productions page.

We receive:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • A Microsoft account identifier, so we recognise you next time

We never receive or access:

  • Your Microsoft password
  • Your email, OneDrive files, calendar, Teams chats, or contacts
  • Anything else in your organization’s directory
Standard sign-in permissions only. We ask Microsoft for openid, profile, and email — nothing more. That’s why all personal accounts and most organizations can approve it without an administrator. How Microsoft sign-in works.

Security: Microsoft’s Protections Plus Ours

Signing in with Microsoft adds your organization’s protections to ours. It doesn’t replace them.

  • Rogue Productions two-step verification still applies. After Microsoft signs you in, we ask for your Rogue Productions two-step code. That keeps your account protected even if a Microsoft account is compromised or misconfigured.
  • Organizations can accept Microsoft MFA instead. An organization’s Owner can choose to let Microsoft’s multi-factor authentication stand in for our code for its members. It’s off by default, and personal accounts always use the Rogue Productions code.
  • Conditional Access applies at Microsoft. With a work account, your organization’s Conditional Access and sign-in rules — require MFA, company devices only, allowed locations — are enforced by Microsoft when you sign in. Only your IT administrator can change them.
  • We re-check about hourly. While you’re signed in, we check with Microsoft about once an hour (every 15 or 30 minutes if your organization chooses) that your account is still allowed in. If your organization removes your access, Rogue Productions finds out within that window.
  • Signing out is separate. Signing out of Rogue Productions doesn’t sign you out of Microsoft 365.
More detail: Two-step, MFA and Conditional Access in the help center explains exactly when Microsoft MFA is accepted and what each Conditional Access rule looks like when you sign in.

Work Accounts and “Need Admin Approval”

Your work account belongs to your organization, so your organization decides how it can be used.

Many organizations let people approve simple sign-in apps themselves. Others require an administrator to review every new app first. If yours does, Microsoft shows “Need admin approval”. That’s your organization’s setting, not an error.

What to do:

  • Send your IT administrator the guide for IT administrators.
  • If Microsoft offers a Request approval button, use it — your administrator is notified.
  • In the meantime, use a personal Microsoft account or a Rogue Productions account, and connect your work account later.
Leaving a job? A work account stops working when your organization disables it. If your Rogue Productions account is yours personally, add a password or connect a personal Microsoft account before you leave. Work and school accounts · Getting back in.

Already Have a Rogue Productions Account?

Connect Microsoft to the account you have. You don’t need a new one.

Sign in with your password and two-step code, open Account → Sign-in methods, confirm it’s you, and choose Connect a Microsoft account. From then on you can sign in either way.

We never connect accounts just because the email addresses match. Email addresses can change hands, so we always ask you to prove the existing account first.

Step by step: Connecting and disconnecting covers connecting, disconnecting, and adding or removing a password.

For Organizations: Govern Access from Your Own Tenant

Your IT team decides who gets access, and with which role, in Microsoft Entra.

An administrator signs in with a work account, opens Account → Organization, and connects the organization’s Microsoft tenant. From there, people and groups are assigned to Rogue Productions roles:

  • Owner — everything, including security settings, transferring ownership, and disconnecting the organization
  • Admin — manage members, roles, and access settings; see activity
  • Billing Admin — see and manage the organization’s plans and seats
  • Member — use everything the organization provides

Organization access only appears when someone signs in with their work Microsoft account — never with a password or a personal account.

IT administrators: the guide for IT administrators lists exactly which apps and permissions are involved, and accounts managed by your organization explains what members see.

The Bottom Line

Continue with Microsoft is the quickest way in if you already live in Microsoft 365: no new password, your organization’s rules applied automatically, and nothing shared beyond your name, email address, and an account identifier. A Rogue Productions account remains a good choice if you’d rather keep your sign-in entirely separate. Either way, your account is protected by our own two-step verification — and you can use both.
