Domain Ownership Transfer Guide
A step-by-step walkthrough for transferring your new domain(s) after purchase.
Overview
Once payment is confirmed, you’ll receive the domain name(s) included in your package through a secure transfer process. To receive ownership of your domain(s), you’ll need a free Namecheap account. Your website source code and assets are delivered immediately after purchase, while domain transfers typically complete within 5–7 business days.

Create Your Namecheap Account
Before the transfer can begin, you’ll need a free Namecheap account. All domains included with our website packages are transferred directly to Namecheap, where you’ll maintain full ownership and control of your domain(s).
If you don’t already have an account, create one before proceeding. Once your account is ready, we’ll provide everything needed to complete the transfer.
Receive Your Auth Codes
After purchase, we will:
- Unlock the domain(s) at the current registrar
- Temporarily disable WHOIS privacy protection if required
- Send the EPP authorization codes (also called transfer codes or auth codes) for each domain
For security purposes, authorization codes are only sent to the verified email address used during purchase.
Initiate the Transfer
Log in to your Namecheap account and navigate to Transfer a Domain. Enter each domain name exactly as provided and paste the corresponding authorization (EPP) code when prompted.
Namecheap may require a one-year renewal fee during the transfer process. This renewal extends your domain registration and is paid directly to Namecheap.
Approve the Transfer
Namecheap will send a transfer confirmation email to the email address associated with your account. Approve the transfer as soon as possible to help expedite the process.
If no action is taken, most transfers will automatically complete after the standard transfer waiting period.
Transfer Complete
Most domain transfers are completed within 5–7 business days. Once complete, your domain(s) will appear in your Namecheap dashboard, where you can manage DNS records, renewals, and domain settings.
Depending on your hosting provider and DNS configuration, changes may take additional time to propagate across the internet.
Configure DNS & Launch Your Site
Once your domain(s) appear in your Namecheap account:
- Point the domain to your hosting provider
- Deploy the website source code to your hosting environment
- Configure SSL/TLS certificates
- Re-enable WHOIS privacy if desired
Your hosting provider’s documentation will provide the exact DNS records and deployment settings required for your environment.
You’re Live!
Your new website is online.
From here, you’re free to customize the design, update content, add features, configure email services, or rebrand the site entirely. The code, assets, and domain(s) belong to you.
Transfer Tips
Namecheap Account Required
All domain transfers are completed through Namecheap. Creating your free account before purchase or immediately afterward helps ensure the transfer process moves forward without delay.
Protect Your Auth Codes
Treat authorization codes like passwords. Only enter them through your Namecheap account and never share them publicly or through unsecured channels.
Check Your Spam Folder
Transfer approval emails can occasionally be filtered by your email provider. If you don’t see a transfer email, check your spam or junk folder before contacting support.
Approve Promptly
Approving the transfer email as soon as it arrives can significantly reduce the overall transfer timeline. Delays in approval may extend the process or require the transfer to be restarted.
